June 8-12

June 8

We made crayon mosaics today.  We put crayon shavings on paper and then baked the paper in the oven (at the lowest it would go).  Turned out pretty cool, but the wax from the crayons bled into the paper and made rings.  Might try again on canvas sometime.  The kids had a blast!
Lance went to ride bikes with a bunch of friends, so Allie and I played animal safari.  I am always amazed by her imagination and her love of sorting.  We sorted by animal type and by color and by size.  Who knew you could do so much with a tub full of plastic animals!

June 9

I made muffins (from a box) today and they all had these strange protrusions coming out of them.  I told the kids they were sticking their tongues out at us!

Today was the first day of the baseball tournament.  I was really worried about Allie making it through the day since we were going to have to play up to three games.  She took a bag of goodies and spent the entire first game drawing and coloring.  Such a good girl.

We have not had the best season, so we weren't expecting a whole lot going into the tournament.  Lance has been very lucky this season and has become the catcher, which he has come to love, even with the extra gear, which in Texas in May and June isn't always fun.  He has really started to figure it out and is becoming pretty good!

He has been in a hitting slump the past couple of months too.  He will go to the park with Jeff and hit ball after ball after ball into the outfield.  Then he gets to the games and won't swing.  We told him before the game that unless it was in the dirt... SWING!  He actually listened to us and finally got a hit!

And made it home!  We played three games on Saturday and one on Sunday.  We were very proud of all the boys.  Lance was very proud of himself, sore legs and all.  Apparently squats all day long can even make a 10 year old tired!

June 11

We finally got signed up at the gym again and got to the pool.  The kids are in HEAVEN!

June 12

We met some friends at the park today to play in the splash pad and have a picnic.  After a few hours at the park, we all went for sno cones.  We decided that it was so much fun, that the kids have decided that we will have "Treat Tuesday" every week.

June 7th

It has been raining since yesterday, so we took daddy to lunch at MooYah, just so we could get out of the house.

For mother's day, I wanted the new baseball charm from Pandora.  Unfortunately, the shop we go to didn't have them in yet, so I got a gift certificate instead.  We finally made it up there to pick it up.  Love it!!

June 6

We went to the library today for the children's program.  The last time we went to this library's progam, we had to park down the street and weren't able to get in.  So, we got there early.  Too early...  It was to start at 10:30, so I thought we would get there around 9:45 and look at books before the program.  Unfortunately, the kids were ready to go about 9:15, so we got there at 9:30.  Biggest problem??  They don't open until 10!  So, we drove around taking pictures of signs to put together an art project we are working on and got drinks at McDonald's.  When we finally got back to the libarary, they had a blast with the balloon/magic guy and checked out a couple of books too.  After the library, we ran by Redbox and rented "We Bought a Zoo".

Allie's sweet teacher gave me a cute little gift basket for being room mom.  In it was a package of popcorn a couple of popcorn cups.  So, we made the popcorn and used the cups and went up the media room and watched our movie.  Cute, cute movie, but I will never understand the use of "bad" words in movies targeted at kids.  Just not necessary!

Summertime!!

School is out and while I am never good at blogging during the summer, I thought maybe I would try Instagram pics of the day.  Should be easier for me to keep up with!  So, here goes...

Oh what a year it has been!  Can't believe I now have a 5th Grader and a 1st Grader!

Lance's sweet teacher gave me a little goodie for being room mom this year.  It was a package of goodies to make smores!  The kids wer thrilled!  Lance of course had his without chocolate, but that just left more for me.  :)

I told the kids that we were going to spend the summer working on their handwriting.  They are both horrible!  They both start at the bottom (a genetic thing thanks to their father...) and it is almost un-readable.  So, I printed off a could of handwriting sheets and math sheets.  I hope to keep this up all summer and see how it goes.  Of course about five minutes into it, a group of about six boys rang the doorbell and Lance was off.  Might have to start a bit earlier tomorrow!
